INGLECOTE

The purchase of an 18th century fireplace wall set the theme for the renovation of a 1970's renovation to a former maid's quarters. The space was gutted and much needed structural work was incorporated into the final design. The furnace chimney was removed and the West wall was reconfigured constructing a bay window "into" the room. The gambrel eaves and unusable space behind a new gas fireplace were utilized as concealed closets. Vintage pine paneling and flooring were treated to give a "dry" aged finish. A banquette at the bay window creates a cozy nook overlooking the gardens.

Hand crafted furnishings and accessories coupled with antiques and family heirlooms resonate the client's personality and well hewn sense of design. Although the interiors express the client's penchant for 18th and 19th century American and European furnishings, the exterior renovations hold true to existing design details.
